Prepping For Spring By Starting Our Seeds

I’m a little behind starting my tomato and pepper seeds because I have been feeling a bit under the weather, but today I felt good enough to get them started. I’m very new to gardening, I have only had a few small gardens over the past few years but this year my goal is to really learn the art of gardening, preserving, and beginning the adventures of a small homesteading way of life. I don’t claim to know what I am doing but what I am doing is learning more each day. Join us as we start our adventure of growing our first food garden all the while embracing a slow simple quiet life in the countryside.

I ordered all of our seeds from Botanical Interests. The pricing was great with a huge variety to choose from. I was impressed with their packaging as well as their speedy shipping. I can’t speak to quality yet but I will be sure to keep you updated as our plant being to germinate and grow.

I ordered a long list of seeds to try. Some are indoor sow and others are outdoor sow. In my planting zone ( zone 6a ) I only started a hand full inside and then rest I will direct the sow right into the garden according to each plant’s directions.

Inside we have started all varieties of peppers, tomatoes, and broccoli as well as many of the herbs I am growing. I will have to re-pot them as they grow before they are hardy enough for the outdoors and of course when mother nature decides to bring us warm weather which in Michigan can be quite fickle!

I’m excited to keep you all updated on our gardening adventures. Be sure to check back often for updates and be sure to stop over and visit us on Youtube.
