Save Money by Making Your Snacks at Home — Pecan Maple Protein Bites Edition

Looking to cut costs and still keep your snacks clean, cozy, and full of protein? These Pecan Maple Protein Bites are your new favorite homestead treat. They’re quick to make, require no baking, and are packed with pantry staples like oats, peanut butter, pecans, and chia seeds.

They’re naturally sweetened with maple syrup and include a boost of plant-based protein to keep you energized between garden chores, errands, or homeschool lessons.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup Equate Plant-Based Protein Powder (we use this one from Amazon)
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • Optional: pinch of salt if peanut butter is unsalted

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the oats, chopped pecans, chia seeds, and protein powder.
  2. In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, gently warm the peanut butter and maple syrup until smooth and pourable.
  3. Pour the peanut butter mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips (let the mixture cool slightly so they don’t melt).
  5. Roll into 1-inch balls using your hands or a small cookie scoop.
  6. Chill for 30 minutes to firm up, then store in an airtight container in the fridge (1 week) or freezer (1 month).

We use Protein Powder – Vanilla in this recipe. It’s affordable, blends smoothly, and doesn’t overpower the flavor.
